Welcome To Mars Odyssey
YOU ARE INVITED
to join us in our inaugural play test of Mars Odyssey

This Integrated Learning Experience was designed to incorporate game elements into traditional curriculums. The first release is being launched here in the EVHS MESA program. We appreciate your participation!

Throughout this process you will be asked to complete feedback surveys on both the gamification and the learning elements. Please be open and honest with your comments as they will help build a better experience for future players.

If you are interested in helping us build the game through paid internships in animation creation, in-class guides, or game development please contact juliaeglatian@movingartsespanola.org.

Game Play
  • The goal of the game is to successfully colonize Mars.
  • Players will form Discovery Teams, choose their team alliance to either the corporate partner Space Zed or the scientific/governmental partner Mars Annexation and Space Alliance (MASA).
  • Players will then be directed to create their login and password. Note: throughout the game, points are awarded to individuals and teams for speed and accuracy.
  • Once players have successfully logged into the game, their actions will be guided by the Sentient Artificial Life form SAL AI.
  • Players will be provided with various opportunities to shape the game outcomes. The decisions you make on your journey determine your fate!
  • Players will receive messages from SAL as well as other sources including Mission Control, Space Zed or MASA leadership or staff, and earth news feeds.
  • Players must complete the tasks directed by SAL in each level before accessing the next level.
  • There are strategically placed hard stops where players must wait until the rest of the players/class complete that level. Players that are waiting may interact with SAL and play mini-games, read related materials, assist other players, or work on their ongoing tasks such as Public Relations or engineering designs.
  • The Game ends when all teams have completed their tasks and the final ending is determined.
